Book Review: Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff

I can't wait for Darkdawn. Nevernight was good. Godsgrave was better. I'm almost scared for Darkdawn.... I'll admit, given what I've heard about this series and Godsgrave especially, I was expecting more from it. It was a good book, but I don't know if it was as mind-blowing and spectacular as everyone else seemed to think. And if you'll recall, I was also confused on my feelings for Nevernight. I hope I enjoy Darkdawn like I've enjoyed these. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:     Assassin Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church ministry think she’s far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she’s no closer to ending Consul Scaeva and Cardinal Duomo, or avenging her familia. And after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia begins to suspect the motives of the Red Church itself. When it’s announced that Scaeva and Duomo will be making a rare public appearance...

Book review: Obsidio by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Obsidio is the mind blowing, heart breaking, stunning conclusion to the Illuminae Files series by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. It was well worth the year and a half wait to get my hands on it. Fun Fact: Back in 2016 when this book was announced, there was a pre-order promotion. Those who pre-ordered the book and submitted their proof of purchase and their name had the opportunity to be "killed" in Obsidio when it finally came out. And I got in! I am proud to announce that Amie Kafuman and Jay Kristoff officially killed me with their books. You can find me in the beginning of the book, around page 100, as a casulity of the initial attack from Bi-tech on Kerenza IV. I was thrown into a pit with almost 2,000 other people. So cool ! 😂     Anyways, back to the review. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:     Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refug...

Book Review: Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

I will admit, this book was a struggle but I loved it nonetheless. I first heard about it from Piera Forde's book channel on YouTube (who's video's I love btw, definitely check her out ). She just raved on and on about it and still does actually. I was unable to find it at any libraries near me so my mom ordered it for me. I read the first 100 pages or so but couldn't really get into the whole premise and the footnote thing. I put it down for a few months, moved across country, and 2 months after getting settled I picked it up again. I was up until 11:30pm reading this book and finished the last 50 pages or so the next morning. So yeah. I'm officially obsessed with this book and have Godsgrave (the second book in the Nevernight chronicles) on hold at my new local library. I can't wait to read it! OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed...

Book Review: Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This is my favorite book in the Illuminae Files (so far. #Obsidio) I think I love this one more because of the characters. The plot is pretty similar, but the characters are so vastly different that it works. I cannot wait to see what these guys do in Obsidio.     Speaking of, they just announced tour dates for the US today! They announced Australia a few days ago, and it's already sold out! I hope everyone who gets to go has a fantastic time. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed. The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall , where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault. Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of lif...

Book Review- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I am going to start this off by saying I don't think I have the words to accurately describe this book and what it's about/how it feels to read it. It's mind-blowing, fast paced, action packed and awesome. The only way to truly know what it's like is to read it. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting...
