Book Review: Because You Love To Hate Me edited by Ameriie

I have been wanting to read this book for months since I heard it was coming out. When it finally did, I didn't have any money. I was eventually able to buy it when it went on sale as an e-book, because it was a contender for the 2017 Goodreads Choice awards. I finally got around to reading it. Here are my thoughts. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Leave it to the heroes to save the world--villains just want to rule the world. In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view. These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like "Medusa," Sherlock Holmes , and "Jack and the Beanstalk" provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage--and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again! Featuring writing from . . . Authors: R

Book Review: Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This is my favorite book in the Illuminae Files (so far. #Obsidio) I think I love this one more because of the characters. The plot is pretty similar, but the characters are so vastly different that it works. I cannot wait to see what these guys do in Obsidio.     Speaking of, they just announced tour dates for the US today! They announced Australia a few days ago, and it's already sold out! I hope everyone who gets to go has a fantastic time. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed. The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall , where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault. Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard t

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

This book was perfectly cheesy and entertaining. I enjoyed it, but I knew when things were going to happen. There were also times where I felt like I got whiplash from how unexpected something was. I can't wait to read the other books in the trilogy. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Luxury spaceliner Icarus suddenly plummets from hyperspace into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive – alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a cynical war hero. Both journey across the eerie deserted terrain for help. Everything changes when they uncover the truth. MY THOUGHTS ON: CHARACTERS     Right away you can tell who the love interests are. You can also tell what their personalities are. Based off of what you are able to gather from the first two chapters, you know how the characters personal arc will go. Now that's not a bad thing ,but you do know what you're walking into within the first few pages if you really t

Get To Know Me Book Tag!

My first book tag! I wanted to post this so you guys could get to know me a little better. If you have any other book tag recs, let me know! (This tag was taken from Sarah & Shannan from The Little Contemporary Corner ) (Disclaimer: I use a lot of bullet points here. you've been warned.) THE BOOKISH QUESTIONS: Can you stop reading at any time, or does it have to be a certain page or chapter? I can stop at any given moment if it's an emergency, but otherwise I have to stop at a chapter. Do you eat or drink anything whilst reading? Occasionally. I make sure I'm very careful though. Sometimes if I'm really absorbed in a book, I forget to eat so snacking while reading is a good idea for me. Can you read listening to music or watching TV? No. I get way to distracted. It's hard enough when people are in the room talking. This makes reading in public places very difficult. One book at a time, or several at once? I try not to start too many at a time. (Spoil

Book Review- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I am going to start this off by saying I don't think I have the words to accurately describe this book and what it's about/how it feels to read it. It's mind-blowing, fast paced, action packed and awesome. The only way to truly know what it's like is to read it. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting
