Book Review: Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

I have been in such a science fiction mood. This book really worked. It felt short, but it felt the right length at the same time. Unearthed is a treasure hunting-new planet exploration-teen romance story. It was also a little bit cheesy but so much better than These Broken Stars. I think it will take them a second to get their footing then they will hit the ground running with this series. I so excited to see what will happen in the second book. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered. For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study... as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything firs...

Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

As I read the last book in the Starbound trilogy, I can't help but feel sad and impressed at the same time. The books and writing just got better with each new release, and I'm super excited to see how their writing has improved and grown after writing one trilogy together, separate books without each other, and now Unearthed. I can't wait to read it!    On an unrelated but also kind of related note, I actually made a power point presentation and gave it to my parents on why one of them should take me out of state to see Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff on their Obsidio tour. So far, it's a maybe. Fingers Crossed! OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness for their planet, and protect them from destruction. Some say Flynn’s a madman, others whisper about conspiracies. Nobody knows the truth. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were rescued from a terrible ...

Book Review: This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

I enjoyed this book far more than the first one, which gives me hope for the third one, which has the characters from the first two books and a set of two new characters; and they all work together. I thought the first one was kind of cheesy, but I mostly chalked that up to the authors finding their footing. What is interesting to me is having read the Iluuminae Files and some of these books, you can tell what parts of the Illuminae files Amie Kaufman did and had ideas for. It's pretty cool! OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war. Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met. Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents. Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable pla...

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

This book was perfectly cheesy and entertaining. I enjoyed it, but I knew when things were going to happen. There were also times where I felt like I got whiplash from how unexpected something was. I can't wait to read the other books in the trilogy. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Luxury spaceliner Icarus suddenly plummets from hyperspace into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive – alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a cynical war hero. Both journey across the eerie deserted terrain for help. Everything changes when they uncover the truth. MY THOUGHTS ON: CHARACTERS     Right away you can tell who the love interests are. You can also tell what their personalities are. Based off of what you are able to gather from the first two chapters, you know how the characters personal arc will go. Now that's not a bad thing ,but you do know what you're walking into within the first few pages if you really t...
